FOR COUNCIL ACiloN STAFF REPORT The Underground Utility Committee at their January 7, 1987, meeting recommended that the following areas be approved for the planning of underground utility districts: 1. Ria1to Avenue from "E" Street to the Barstow Freeway (I- 215 Freeway) 2. Mt. Vernon Avenue between Baseline Street and Hi9hland Avenue Utility companies are required by Rule 20 of the Public Utilities Commission to set aside a certain portion of their revenues to finance the cost of undergrounding overhead facilities within districts established by cities. Property owners will be required to finance the cost of undergrounding their services from their property lines to the meters. No City funds will be required. Because of the length of time (lead time) necessary to plan and design a district by the Southern Califronia Edison Company. we recommend that the motion be approved and the necessary preliminary work be done. URGENCY CLAUSE This is an urgent matter because of the commitment of time and funds necessary for Southern California Edison's lead time for these projects. 2/6/87 2 75-0264 . w . _::" 1[]~e1[1~ LL :0 D'-~! ~ [ .. ::z: D DC I I [] aT... ... 11"1 I .[] ..
