Schuma Planning Director Date: February 10, 1987 Synopsis of Previous Council action: Previous Planning Commission action: At the meeting of the Planning Commission on February 3, 1987, the following recommendation was made: The proposed amendment to the San Bernardino Municipal Code, Section 19.56.050, to reduce the amount of parking spaces required for medical and dental offices, was unanimously recommended for approval. The Negative Declaration for environmental impact was also recommended for approval. Recommended motion: To approve the responses to comments and to adopt the Negative Declaration for environmental impact which has been reviewed and considered. To approve, modify or reject the findings and the recommendation of the Planning Commission and to direct the City Attorney to prepare the necessary amendments to the Municipal Code. ~- '-- C\ i /( .) Section 19.56.050 From Planning Department February 3. 1987 Subject Date Approved ITEM NO. 18, Date Following a recommendation by the Council Legislative Review Committee, the Mayor and Common Council requested the Planning Commission review the proposed ordinance amendment, which would reduce the amount of parking spaces required for medical and dental offices. The proposed ordinance amendment is based in part upon a comparison study prepared by the Planning Department of other communities within the surrounding areas indicating a higher parking ratio for the City of San Bernardino. The amended ordinance would require 10 spaces 2,000 square feet of floor area plus 1 space feet of the remaining gross floor area. Ordinance specifies 10 spaces plus 1 space for square feet of gross floor area. The Environmental Review Committee, at their meeting of January 22, 1987, determined that there were no significant environmental effects and recommended adoption of a negative declaration for Proposed Ordinance Amendment to San Bernardino Municipal Code Section 19.56.050(D). for the first per 175 square The current everyone 175 RECOMMENDATION The Planning Department recommends approval of the proposed Ordinance Amendment to San Bernardino Municipal Code Section 19.56.050(0) and adoption of the proposed negative declaration. Item No. 44.2 coer Action The City Attorney was instructed to prepare the proposed ordinance reducing parking standard requirements for Medical and Dental Offices to ten spaces for the first 2000 square feet of floor area, plus one apace per 175 square feet of the remaining gross floor area. This ordinance is to be reviewed by the Planning Commission and forwarded to the Kayor and Council as soon as possible. Section 19.56.050 Subsection D of the San 8 Bernardino Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: 9 "D.
