of 3 Signs in Street Right-of-Way

Synopsis of Previous Council action:
None.
Recommended motion:
That the request from San Bernardino Auto Plaza, for
permission to install a freeway sign and 2 monument signs
within the street rights-of-way for Auto Center Drive and
Showcase Drive, North and South, be approved in principle,
and the City Attorney directed to prepare a License Agree-
ment to authorize the requested encroachments.

STAFF REPORT
San Bernardino Auto Plaza has requested permission to install a freeway
sign in the curbed island within Auto Center Drive, west of El Camino Real, and
monument signs in the curbed islands within Showcase Drive South and Showcase
Drive North, east of Orange Show Road.
An application has also been submitted to the Planning Department for a
Conditional Use Permit for these signs. This application has been reviewed by
the Environmental Review Committee, and a Negative Declaration was issued at
their meeting of 2-4-87. The case will be considered by the Planning Commission
at their meeting of 3-4-87.
We have reviewed this request and found that the installation of these
signs would not adversely affect the public's use of the street rights-of-way.
Therefore, we recommend that the request be approved.
An administrative fee of at least $500 is normally charged to cover
processing costs.
The License Agreement will stipulate that plans for installation of
these signs must be submitted to our office for review and approval.
