In::: PToposod changes i tJ Binqo Ordinances f....) On behalf of Knights of Columbus Council 905, we are requesting a change in the present regulations concerning the playing of bingo games in the Ci ty of San Bernardino. Section 5.36.060 of the City Code prohibits the playing of more than two sessions of bingo in anyone week along with a $5,000.00 limit in prize money in anyone session. The State law has no such restrictions and leaves this up to the local jurisdiction, Since the inception of bingo at the local Indian reservation many local c~v~c '-" and religious groups that used Bingo as a method of fund raising have been forcell to c.lose as Indian Bingo has no limits as to prize amounts and number of session~ played per week. AS we cannot compete with Indian Dingo on an equal basi~ Qur only chance is to cater to the small players by having a small i>uy-in with a larger payoff than is presently allowed. Our ,:'oU/lc.i I has been able through our bingo profits to provided food sufficient for /tOO,OOO meals to needy individuals from our food program this past gear c1S we.! ] ,J.'; .':Ilpport other charitable programs such as ljouth activities in the }oea..' c'tllllmll'lity. A chanqc in the present ordinance allowing up to three Bingo sessions (! :'lTeek and increasing the maximum payoff to $10,000.00 a session wou~d great.ly increase our council's ability to increase our support for these prog:ams that might otherwise have to be met from local tax revenues.
