Recommended motion:
1. That the Director of Public Works/City Engineer and the City Clerk are
authorized to proceed with the proposed vacation of a portion of that certain
East/West Alley, between Spruce Street and 6th Street, and between "G" Street
and "H" Street, in San Bernardino.
2.
That Plan No. 7885, showing the proposed vacation of a portion of that
East/West Alley between Spruce Street and 6th Street, and between "G" Street
and "H" Street, is approved.

STAFF REPORT
A request was received from Sun land Properties, on August 18, 1989, to vacate a
portion of an East/West Alley lying between Spruce Street and 6th Street and
between "G" Street and "H" Street. Thi s request represents more than 75% of the
owners who adjoin the alley proposed for partial vacation. The petitioner has
deposited the required $200.00, which represents one-half of the total fee of
$400.00. The remaining $200.00 will be due after the investigative proceedings.
Although Greyhound Bus Line uses the Eastern end of the alley (not being
vacated), the majority of the property owners are anxious to 'have the alley
vacated to help alleviate the trash, vandalism and loitering problems which have
developed in recent years.
If Authorization to Proceed is granted, all concerned City Departments and
utility companies will be notified for any input and/or location of existing
easements. Adjoining property owners will be advised of the proposed vacation as
a matter of course in our normal procedure.
Staff therefore recommends that the Director of Public Works/City Engineer and
the City Clerk be authorized and directed to proceed with the proposed vacation.
