STAFF REPORT
The Department prepared specifications for traffic paint
used to mark the traffic legends and pavement lane lines
throughout the City. The Purchasing Department advertised for
bids on 8-12-96 and sent bid packages to 12 firms for the supply
of traffic painting supplies.
Bids were received and opened on 8-27-96. A total of two
bids were received and were $41,129.79 and $43,378.26 respec-
tively. The bids were comprised of the following materials:
MEK Thinner 100 gal.
Thinner Wash 300 gal.
Low VOC Paint
Black 1,000 gal.
Yellow 1,600 gal.
White 500 gal.
Water Base Paint
Black 25 gal.
Yellow 800 gal.
White 1,000 gal.
Blue 50 gal.
The low bid price was submitted by Morton International
of Salem, Oregon, and the product does meet the specifications.
Funds for the purchase of traffic paint are contained
within the adopted budget as item 001-307-5111 - Materials and
Supplies for the Traffic Signing and Striping Section. A total
of $145,507.00 is allocated under the designated account number
for supplies used in the performance of assigned duties.
Staff recommends that the resolution be adopted allowing
Purchasing to issue a Purchase Order for the purchase of traffic
paint.
