The Church has recently purchased both properties lying to the East of Pi co Avenue between 5th Street and Spruce Street and now owns all the adjoining properties on both sides of Pi co Avenue between 5th Street and Spruce Street. The Church would like to vacate that portion of Pico Avenue intersecting with 5th Street. This section of Pico Avenue is sub- standard in size when compared to other city streets as it is only 26.2 feet wide, while Pi co Avenue North of Spruce Street is 51.2 feet wide. Not only will this proposed vacation benefit the Church by giving it more usable land for parking, access, etc., but it will eliminate East or West bound traffic congestion caused when traffic slows down to enable cars to enter Pi co Avenue from 5th Street and it will eliminate public access to 5th Street from Pi co Avenue. The petitioner has deposited the required S500.00, which represents one-half of the total street vacation processing fee of SI,OOO.OO. The remaining S500.00 will be due after the investigative proceedings. Staff requests that the Kayor and Common Council give Authorization to Proceed with the proposed vacation. 75.0264 o ... 6th.
