This item was placed on the agenda at the request of Councilman Minor.
An opportunity exists to install several hundred (320) palm trees on
Palm Avenue. The Purchasing Agent has researched the matter and has
received a bid, including tax, of $28,963.00.
The installation of three hundred twenty (320) Washitonia Robusta trees
on Palm Avenue would, along with the previously approved street
improvements, the installation of the traffic signal and box culvert at
Palm and Kendall, will significantly enhance and beautify the major
entrance into the Verdemont Area.
The Agency's not to exceed cost of $30,000 represents fifty percent
(SOX) of the actual cost of material and installation, with the
remaining cost to be handled by the contractor.
Because the need to take sction arose after the posting of the agenda,
the Commission will need to take action allowing this matter to be
considered as an emergency item.
Staff recommends adoption of the form motion.
