SUBJECT
A resolution authorizing the execution of a purchase order to Crest Chevrolet for two (2) Model Year 2000
Chevrolet C2500 One-Ton Cab and Chassis for the Animal Control Department.
BACKGROUND
The vehicles to be replaced have surpassed their economical life and have become an economic burden to
maintain.

Notice inviting bids for two (2) new One-Ton Cab and Chassis', Bid No.00-29, were sent to seven (7) vendors;
five (5) bids for One-Ton Cab & Chassis' were received. The results are as follows:

This City permits a 1% local vendor preference for the purpose of comparing bid prices. The cost and
technical specifications of all bids were reviewed and the low bid submitted by Crest Chevrolet for Chevrolet
C2500 One-Ton Cab and Chassis trucks was found to be acceptable and met or exceeded all items called for in
the specification. The final bid price reflects adjustments to include any options identified by the City.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds for this purchase are contained in the Fiscal Year '99/2000 Motor Vehicle fund. $481,400 was included
in this year's Fleet budget for the purchase of vehicles. Additionally, $774,400 was carried over from the
previous fiscal year for a total of $1,255,800, available for vehicle purchases. The Vehicle Replacement fund
accrues funds as departments contribute annually in anticipation of purchasing replacement vehicles as needed.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Mayor and Common Council authorize the Purchasing Manager to issue a purchase
order for the amount of $37,957.30 to Crest Chevrolet for the purchase of two (2) Model Year 2000 Chevrolet
C2500 One-Ton Cab and Chassis trucks.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AUlHORIZING THE
EXECUTION OF A PURCHASE ORDER TO CREST CHEVROLET FOR TWO
MODEL YEAR 2000 CHEVROLET C2500 ONE-TON CAB AND CHASSIS TRUCKS
FOR THE ANIMAL CONTROL DEPARTMENT
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Crest Chevrolet of San Bernardino is the lowest and best responsible
bidder for the furnishing and delivery of two (2) Model Year 2000 Chevrolet C2500 One-Ton Cab
and Chassis trucks as in accordance with Bid Specification F-00-29 for the total amount of
$37,957.30; pursuant to this determination, the Purchasing Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to issue a purchase order for said two (2) One-Ton Cab and Chassis' to Crest Chevrolet;
such award shall only be effective upon issuance of a Purchase Order by the Purchasing Manager;
and all other quotations therefor are hereby rejected.
SECTION 2. The authorization to execute the above referenced Purchase Order
is rescinded if it is not issued within sixty (60) days of the passage of this resolution.
