STAFF REPORT
The change in the name of Roca street between Sterling Avenue and McKinley Street to
SUNRISE LANE was City initiated. The change is in response to a request to help
property owners and residents living in the area to upgrade this entire area of four-
plexes. The general feeling is that changing the name will deflect some of the
negative feeling of the public towards this area.

There are approximately 184 residences (46 four-plexes) and 7 vacant properties
affected by this proposed street name change. All property owners and residents have
been notified of the proposed change of name as a matter of course in these
proceedings, and they have been notified of their opportunity to appear at the Council
proceedings. No negative responses were received from this large mailing (a total of
237 letters were mailed).
Staff recommends the changing of Roca Street between Sterling Avenue and McKinley
Street to SUNRISE LANE.

RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO CHANGING THE NAME OF
ROCA STREET BETW~EN STERLING AVENu~ AND McKINLEY STREET TO SUNRISE LANE.
WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, EFFECTIVE AS OF
THE DATE OF ADOPTION OF THIS RESOLUTION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION ONE: That the name of Roca Street, between Sterling
Avenue and McKinley Street be, and the same is hereby changed to read
11 SUNRISE LA~~, with an effective date of April 6. 1992.
12 SECTION TWO: The City Clerk of the City of San Bernardino shall
13 cause a certified coPy of this Resolution to be recorded in the office
14 of the County Recorder of the County of San Bernardino.
