STAFF REPORT
The Traffic Engineering Section received a request to
prohibit parking on the west side of Waterman Avenue, adjacent
to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
The "No Parking" zone was requested by the Manager of the
DMV branch in order to alleviate sight restrictions at their
driveways. The requestee claims that motorists often park their
vehicles along this section of Waterman Avenue while conducting
business in the DMV office. While parked, these vehicles,
including semi-trucks, limit visibility to motorists attempting
to enter Waterman Avenue from the DMV driveways.
An investigation conducted by the Traffic Engineering
Staff verified that there is a problem and, therefore, concurs
with the request.
Since the Department of Motor Vehicles provides
sufficient off-street parking for their employees and patrons,
the parking prohibition will not adversely affect parking in the
area.
Staff recommends that the proposed resolution be adopted.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING
RESOLUTION NO. 3985 ENTITLED, IN PART, "A RESOLUTION.
PROHIBITING PARKING UPON CERTAIN DESIGNATED STREETS OR PORTIONS
THEREOF. .," TO ESTABLISH A NO PARKING ANY TIME ZONE ON WATERMAN
AVENUE BETWEEN THIRTEENTH STREET AND 420 FEET NORTH OF
THIRTEENTH STREET, APPLICABLE TO THE WEST SIDE ONLY.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1 :
Resolution No. 3985 which prohibits
parking upon certain designated streets or portions thereof,
Section One, Subsection 38, WATERMAN AVENUE, is amended to read:
"38 WATERMAN AVENUE
11 (R) Between 13th Street and a point 420 feet north
12 of 13th Street, applicable to the west side only."
