Retireea' Health Care Benefits
On October 7, 1991, the C-=ity Deve10plllent C_i.don adopted Re.olution 5306
chan&1n&, for future retiree., the total dollar contribution the Developlllent
Depar~ent vill provide for continued health care coveraae. the total dollar.
contributed vill decrea.e from fully paid health cover..e to a $16.00 total
contribution per .onth for e.ch future retiree in order to be in line vith the
City'a contribution.
Any exi.t1n& retiree. approved to receive the full contribution vere to remain
unaffected. After several conversations vith a repre.entative from PlIS Health,
the Depar~ent vas informed that ve aay no lonaer directly pay .ore than $16.00
for each retiree, and that the health care preaium vill be deducted from their
retireaent checks. Since thi. va. not the intent when the Resolution vas adopted
(to affect our three retirees), ve aust now proce.. an individual check each .onth
to each retiree for the aaount of the health care preaium deducted from their
retireaent checks. the total dollar aaount to be relabursed each aonth vill be
$566.00.

steps ve aust now take to ensure that the three retirees continue to be covered
vith health insurance benefits. these three retirees vill be the la.t Depar~ent
retirees to receive full health coverace benefits paid for by the Depar~ent.
