STAFF REPORT
The change in the name of ROCA STREET between Sterling Avenue and McKinley Street to
SUNRISE LANE is City initiated. This change has been suggested by the group of
property owners in the area in order to help change the publics' perception of this
area of four-plexes.
There are approximately 124 occupied units (a total of 31 four-plexes) and no
businesses affected by this proposed street name change. There are also six vacant
lots in the area. The 53 parcels of property are owned by 38 property owners. All
property owners and residents will be notified of the proposed change of name as a
matter of course in these proceedings. and they will have the opportunity to address
the Mayor and Council regarding same.
With your authorization, this office will make the necessary notifications to
adjoining property owners, City Departments and utility companies. conduct the
investigations and prepare the appropriate resolution. .The Post Office will also be
advised of the street name change.
Staff hereby recommends that authorization to proceed with this street name change be
granted.
