iynopsis of Previous Council action:
On March 11, 1991, the Mayor and Common Council established
salaries for Police Department Ranges P-4, P-5, P-6 and P-7,
effective August 1, 1990.
Recommended motion:
1. That the salaries for Police Department Ranges P-4, P 5,
P-6 and P-7 be established as outlined in the staff
report, effective August 1, 1991.
2. That the Personnel Department prepare an amendment to
Resolution No. 6429.

STAFF REPORT
Section 186 of the city Charter establishes a formula for
setting salaries for local safety members effective each
August 1. City staff has reached agreement with police
management on the ten cities whose salaries will be averaged
to determine this year's P-4, P-5, P-6 and P-7 salaries for
the police Department. The cities selected are:
Berkeley
Chula Vista
Fullerton
oceanside
ontario
Pomona
Riverside
Santa Rosa
8imi Valley
Torrance
The new monthly salary ranges, effective August 1, 1991, are:

P-6 Asst. Chief of Police $7,005
P-7 Chief of police $7,865
