STAFF REPORT
The existing sewer main in "D" Street, from 7th Street to
9th Street, has been in service for many years. This main has
created some recurring maintenance problems over the past few
years, due to its deteriorated condition.
A major claim, for damages from sewage backing up into an
adjoining building, has been submitted by the property owner.
The odor is still present in the building after several months.
More claims can be expected in the future.
It is recommended that funds be provided to finance the
installation of a replacement sewer line, in order to reduce the
potential for additional claims and the need for repeated main-
tenance effort. The preliminary estimate of cost for installing
a replacement sewer main is $78,000.
We recommend that the transfer of $78,000 from Account No.
245-365-57731, "Cajon Trunk Extension - Cable Creek," to Account
No. 245-365-57886, "Replacement of Sewer Main in 'D' Street, from
7th Street to 9th Street," be approved.
Supplemental funds will be provided for the Cajon Trunk
Extension Sewer as needed.
