JUI_ J , - ~IT~ OF SAN BERARDINO - REQUEST c:bR COUNCIL ACTION APPROVAL OF SAN BERNARDINO BASEBALL CLUB REQUEST FOR USE OF FISCALINI FIELD FOR BOXING MATCH ON SEPTEMBER 7, 1991 STAFF REPORT The San Bernardino Spirit Baseball Club has requested the use of Fiscalini Baseball Field for a non-baseball event. The current contract allows fifteen (15) dates for non- baseball related activities and this is the third request for one of these dates. The lessee is responsible for utility costs and any required costs for labor, materials and supplies. In addition, the city will receive five percent (5%) of the gross receipts generated by this event. It is anticipated that attendance would be approximately 2,000 paid persons. The boxing ring will be set-up behind home plate with field seating in the foul ball territory between first and third base and all other seating in the stadium stands. The concession operations will include beer sales similar to baseball game arrangements. The boxing event on July 26 was conducted successfully without any problems. Attendance was approximately 2,300. It is recommended that approval be given for the San Bernar- dino Spirit Baseball Club to conduct a boxing match on September 7, 1991. . THIS WILL CREATE A 9 FOOT AREA BETWEEN THE EDGE OF THE RING AND HOME PLATE. THE FIRST 7 FEET OF THIS AREA WILL BE THE BE THE TIME KEEPER, DOCTOR AND OTHER PERSONNEL. HOME PLATE ITSELF WILL BE PROTECTED. THERE WILL ALSO BE NO ENTRY ON THE IN. FIELD. #3 THE PRESS WILL BE PLACED ON THE NORTHEAST AND SOUTHWEST CORNERS OF THE RiNG. APPROXIMATELY 35 SEATS WILL BE SET.UP FOR THE PRESS. #4 THE FIGHTERS WILL BE ON THE WEST AND EAST CORNERS OF THE RING AND WILL ENTER VIA THE WALKWAYS.
