05-20-91 The Real Property Section of the Public Works Department was authorized and
directed to proceed with the proposed street name changes Club Way to
Sunset Drive. Sunset Drive to Club Way and the Southwesterly portion of
Caroline Street to Club Way.
Recommended motion:
That the hearing be closed; and said resolution be adopted.

STAFF REPORT
The changes in the names of Club Way. Sunset Drive and the Southwesterly portion
of Caroline Street were initiated by the Sunset Group. This request clllle as a
result of the opening of the existing "Sunset Drive" to Redlands Boulevard. The
Sunset Group is attempting to get freeway signage for Club Way in order to
improve the advertising for the existing and planned businesses in the area
bounded on the East and West by Watenuan Avenue and Hunts Lane. on the North by
Redlands Boulevard and on the South by railroad tracks. Also. it is the City's
intention to clarify the two sections of "Caroline Street" which overlap. The
Southerly portion will be renllDled "Club Way". This will help provide continuity
and reduce duplication of street names in the area.
On 04-26-91. the Real Property Section of the Public Works Department was
authorized and directed to proceed with the proposed street name changes from
Club Way to Sunset Drive. Sunset Drive to Club Way and the Southerly portion of
Caroline Street to Club Way.
On 05-30-91. City Departments were notified of the proposed name changes. (see
attached list) . and given an opportunity to comment on the proposal. The
Assistant City Engineer was concerned about Club Way having both East/West and
North/South addresses. but neither the police department or the fire departments
had a problem with this fact. primarily because there are so few buildings in the
area that will be addressed "Club Way" and because the total length of street
(which runs from Redlands Boulevard to Hunts Lane) is so short. At the present
time no buildings face the North/South section of "Club Way".
There are no residences affected by these proposed street name changes. There
are six businesses affected. All business owners have been notified of the
proposed changes of name as a matter of course in these proceedings. and they
have been notified of their opportunity to appear at the Council proceedings.
Staff recommends the changing of Club Way to Sunset Drive. Sunset Drive to Club
Way and the Southerly portion of Caroline Street to Club Way.

RESOLUTION OF TIlE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO CHANGING TIlE NAME OF CLUB WAY
TO SUNSET DRIVE, SUNSET DRIVE TO CLUB WAY AND TIlE SOUTHERLY PORTION OF
CAROLINE STREET TO CLUB WAY. WITHIN TIlE CORPORATE LIMITS OF TIlE CITY OF SAN
BERNARDINO, EFFECTIVE AS TO TIlE FIRST DAY OF JANUARY, 1992.
BE IT RESOLVED BY TIlE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF TIlE CITY OF SAN
BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION ONE: That the nllllles of Club Way, Sunset Drive and the
Southerly portion of Caroline Street, be, and the sllllle are hereby changed to
read Sunset Drive and Club Way, with an effective date of January 1, 1992.
SECTION TWO: The City Clerk of the City of San Bernardino shall cause
a certified copy of this Resolution to be recorded in the office of the
County Recorder of the County of San Bernardino.
