Recommended motion:
That the Real Property Section of the Public Works Departllent be authorized
and directed to proceed with changing the llllIIe of Club Way. between
Redlands Boulevard and Caroline Street to Sunset Drive. and Sunset Drive
between Redlands Boulevard and Caroline Street to Club Way. and the
Southerly portion of Caroline Street. between Sunset Drive and Hunts Lane
to Club Way.

STAFF REPORT
The Sunset Group is developing the area bounded by Watel'llllll Avenue. Hunts Lane. Red-
lllJlds Boulevard llJId the railroad tracks. . They are requesting street nlllle changes for
Sunset Drive. Club Way and the Southerly section of Caroline Street lying between the
present Sunset Drive llJId Hunts Lane. The present Club Way would be re_d Sunset
Drive. and the old section of Sunset Drive. the newly constructed section running froll
Redlands Boulevard llJId the Southerly portion of Caroline street (between Hunts Lane
and Sunset Drive) would be renlllled Club Way. Club Way would then run all the way froll
RedlllJlds Boulevard to Bunts Lane. At the present time the City has two sections of
Caroline Street lying parallel with each other. llJIdin order to alleviate potential
location problems for the fire department llJId other emergency vehicles. it is
necessary to rename one portion.
There are no residences and few businesses affected by these proposed street naBe
changes (most of the large businesses have Redlands Boulevard addresses). The
property owners llJId tenants will all be notified of the proposed change of name as a
matter of course in these proceedings, and they will have the opportunity to address
the Mayor llJId Council regarding saae.
With your authorization, this office will make the necessary notifications to
adjoining property owners. City Departments llJId utility companies. conduct the
investigations and prepare the appropriate resolution. The Post Office will also be
advised of the street naae change. The Sunset Group has paid a S500.00 processing fee
for these street name changes and they will be responsible for any costs for new
street name signs.
staff hereby reco.ends that authorization to proceed with this street nllIIe change be
granted.
