A request was made to the Traffic Safety Committee by Councilman
Frazier for 90 feet of curb to be painted red. This request was
presented in an effort to alleviate the drug and prostitution
activity that was prevalent in the area.
The Traffic Safety Committee considered this request at their
meeting of 4-08-87. Since there was no traffic safety problem,
the Committee did not recommend installation of the red curb.
Copies of the minutes of this meeting, and map of the area, are
attached for reference.
This item was placed on the Supplemental Agenda for the Council-
Meeting of 8-17-87, at the request of Councilwoman Pope-Ludlam.
If the Mayor and Council concur, the following motion should be
adopted:
FORM MOTION:
That the City Attorney be directed to prepare a resolution
authorizing installation of 90 feet of red curb, on the west
side of Herrington Str south of 21st Street.

Danyi's letter informing him of
the work with Caltrans to
resolve the problem, and also
inform him that the intention
of stop signs is not for speed
control. Copy be made available
to Councilman Maudsley.

indicates no parking problem.

front of a vacant lot on Herrington, South of 21st
Street, to curb drug and prostitution activity.
Discussion ensued.
