Environmental Review Committee action:
On July 23, 1987 the Environmental Review Committee considered the
vacation of a portion of State Street north of Sheridan Road and
recommended for approval a Negative Declaration on the project.
Recommended motion:
To adopt the Negative Declaration for Public Works Project No. 87-7,
vacation of a portion of State Street north of Sheridan Road.
and to adopt a Finding of Consistency with the General Plan.

The vacation of State Street north of Sheridan Road (Attach-
ment A) is proposed in relation to a neighborhood commercial
center located at the southeast corner of Kendall Drive and
University Parkway. The vacated portion of the street will
become a large landscaped area and parking area, and will
also contain a Water Department pump facility.
This project was reviewed by the Environmental Review Com-
mittee on July 23, 1987 and a determination made that the
proposed project could not have a significant effect on the
environment. The Environmental Review Committee recommends
adoption of a Negative Declaration. The required ten day
public review period began on August 5, 1987 and expired on
August 14, 1987. Any comments received are attached.
In the past, street vacations have gone to the Planning
Commission for adoption of the Negative Declaration and
Findings of General Plan Consistency. However, the Planning ~~
Department has been advised verbally by the City Attorney's ~
office that, due to the Office of Planning and Research and
court restrictions on public works projects, all public works
projects must come to the City Council for adoption of the
Negative Declaration and Findings of General Plan Con-
sistency.
