Agenda Item No ~3 ~iTY 'OF SAN 8ERN~DINO - REQUEST ~ COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT The Animal Control Department has, in some cases, records that date back over twenty years. Many of the records are kept in storage in a room at the City Yards. While a fire a few years ago destroyed man~ of the documents, many unnecessary records are still there. Approximately six (61 years of records are stored at the Animal Shelter. Because storage space is at minimum, we would like to be able to destroy records that are no longer necessary. We also would like to be able to destroy records on a yearly basis, depending on the type of records kept. 75-0264 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 o o RESOLUTION NO. RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO APPRO- VING THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN RECORDS BY THE ANIMAL CONTROL DEPARTMENT. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino do hereby approve the destruction by the Animal Control Department of all bite case reports, complaint reports, animal impound cards, truck and radio logs, general correspondence and dog license receipts dated prior to January 1, 1986. SECTION 2. Approval is hereby granted to destroy certain records on a yearly basis in the time frame set 14 forth, a list of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A", 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 and incorporated herein by reference as though fully set forth at length. SECTION 3. It is hereby found and determined that the records are no longer needed, and they may be destroyed pursuant to Government Code Section 34090, upon written consent of the city Attorney.
