COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT The plans installed about 6 paving was to be stallation of the direct the Morgan Road Storm Drain to be feet from the south curb and gutter. Permanent placed over the trench excavated to allow in- storm drain. During removal of the pavement over the trench, it became evident that the existing 6 feet of pavement between the storm drain and south curb was badly deteriorated. The pavement was broken so badly that it was impossible to remove the pavement on a true line. This condi tion precluded placing the permanent paving over the trench in an acceptable manner. In order to obtain a good permanent patch over the trench, the Contractor was.directed to remove the approximate 6 feet of pavement, and place new pavement in this area. An additional 208 tons of asphalt concrete was placed due to this action. The cost for this additional work, based upon actual costs incurred, is $9,780.00. Costs were accrued on a time and material basis, in accordance with Section 3.3 of the Standard Specifications. The total estimated project cost, based upon the actual low bid price, contained an amount of $41,248.50 for contingen- cies. Approval has been granted to transfer $12,000 to the storm drain in Waterman Avenue, from Wier Road to Commercial Road. The balance of $29,249.50 will be more than sufficient to cover the cost of Change Order No. One.. We recommend that Change Order No. One be approved. 4-25-91 75-02'" .'
