STAFF REPORT
The Traffic Engineering staff has reviewed a request to
install 4-way stop signs at the intersection of Macy Street and
Ellen Street. This intersection is currently controlled by
yield signs on Ellen Street, which are the east and west bound
approaches.
Our traffic investigation indicates that this location
does not currently meet minimum State and Federal warrants for
4-way stop signs. However, in order to improve safety and the
general operation of this intersection, staff recommends that
the existing yield signs for Ellen Street be replaced with 2-way
stop signs.
At their meeting of 3-13-91, the Traffic Safety Committee
concurred with staff's findings and recommendations.
We recommend that the installation of stop signs on Ellen
Street be approved.

RESOLUTION NO. 655 ENTITLED, IN PART, "A RESOLUTION.
3 DESIGNATING CERTAIN STREETS OR PORTIONS THEREOF AS THROUGH
HIGHWAYS. . " ; AND PROVIDING THAT MACY STREET IS A THROUGH
4 HIGHWAY AT ITS INTERSECTION WITH ELLEN STREET.
5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: Resolution No. 655, which designates certain
streets or portions thereof as through highways, Section 1, is
amended by adding Subsection 9.4 to read:
"9.4 MACY STREET
At its intersection with Ellen Street."
