STAFF REPORT
Bids for the Meyers Road Storm Drain were opened at 2:00
p.m. on Tuesday, March 5,
A total of 13 bids were received, ranging from
$193,946.00 to $331,111.00. The low bid of $193,946.00 is 4.8%
over the Engineer's Estimate of $185,000.00.
Listed below is the total estimated project cost, based
upon the actual low bid price:

Per the terms of the agreement with the San Bernardino
City Unified School District, the District will pay the cost and
be reimbursed by the City in five equal annual payments. All
five payments will be made in each of the succeeding years and
there will be no interest charged for the monies. Account No.
248-368-57874 has been established for this work and the School
District has re-viewed the bids and concurs with the project
award. The City will bill the School District in accordance
.with the monthly progress payments.
The total yearly obligation to the City, based on the
above estimate, will be $48,000.00 for each of the next 5 years.
These funds will need to be included in the next five Storm
Drain Construction Fund Budgets.
Based upon the number of bids received, it appears the
Engineer's Estimate was not realistic in view of current pricing
levels. We feel that the low bid is the best that we can
reasonably expect to receive. Therefore, we recommend that a
contract be awarded for the low bid price.

RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AWARDING A
CONTRACT TO BONADlMAN-McCAIN, INC. FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A STORM
DRAIN IN MEYER'S ROAD, FROM LITTLE LEAGUE DRIVE TO MEYER'S CANYON
CREEK.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1 .
Bonadiman-McCain,
Inc.
is the lowest
responsible bidder for: Construction of Storm Drain in Meyer's
Road, from Little League Drive to Meyer's Canyon Creek, in
accordance with Plan No. 8106: and a contract is awarded to said
bidder accordingly for the total amount of $193,946.00, but such
award shall be effective only upon the contract being fully
executed by the parties: all other bids therefore are hereby
rejected: and the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to
execute said contract on behalf of the City: a copy of the
contract is attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A" and incorporated
herein by reference as fully as though set forth at length.
SECTION 2. This contract and any amendment or modifica-
tions thereto shall not take effect or become operative until
fully signed and executed by the parties and no party shall be
obligated hereunder until the time of such full execution. No
oral agreements, amendments, modifications or waivers are
intended or authorized and shall not be implied from any act or
course of conduct of any party.
SECTION 3. This resolution is rescinded if the parties
to the contract fail to execute it within sixty (60) days of the
passage of this resolution.
