RESOLUTION NO.
2 RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN BERNARDINO SUPPORTING EXPANSION OF THE WESTS IDE FAMILY HEALTH
3 CENTER.
4 WHEREAS, prior to July of 1989, the Westside Family Health
5 Center was providing care to approximately 2,000 active patients
6 with 650 visits per month, and
7 WHEREAS, with the closure of the Whitney Young Clinic, the
8 reduction in ambulatory care services at San Bernardino Community
9 Hospital and increasing population, additional physicians have
10 been placed at the center, and
11
WHEREAS, currently monthly visits have increased to
12 approximately 1,000, and
13
WHEREAS, sufficient providers exist to service monthly
14 visits of up to 1,400, but there is insufficient space at the
15 center to accommodate such increases, and
16 WHEREAS, without additional space and some remodeling at
17 the Center to improve efficiency, providers will need to be
18 transferred to another site reducing the services available at
19 the Center,
20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE MAYOR AND COMMON
21 COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO do hereby strongly support
22 the expansion of the Westside Family Health Center to meet the
23 demands of the present patient load and to continue to provide
24 quality health care for the residents of the westside community
25 and continued economic growth,
26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that City Staff is hereby directed
27 to work with the Center to develop the most expedient means of
28 expanding the facility combined with an identification of
DAB/ses/Westside.res

3 available funding sources to be concluded as soon as possible due
4 to the urgent need of the Center and the services that it
5 provides.
