STAFF REPORT
Due to the rapid development in the South Waterman
Avenue area, it has become necessary to install a continuous
left turn lane along Commercial Road, between Hunts Lane and
Waterman Avenue. The street section does not provide sufficient
width to provide on-street parking. Therefore, it will be
necessary to prohibit parking along Commercial Road, between
Hunts Lane and Waterman Avenue, in order to allow the two-way
left turn lane to be installed.
The proposed parking prohibition will also improve the
overall traffic safety by eliminating sight obstructions caused
by parked vehicles.
All developments have been required to provide
sufficient off-street parking. Therefore, the prohibition of
the parking will not adversely affect the parking supply in the
area.
We recommend that the parking prohibition be approved.
Developers in the area will be conditioned to install
the "No Parking" signs, thereby avoiding any cost to the City.
