The Engineer's estimate for the work was $284,200.00. The low bid is 11% below the Engineer's estimate. An amount of $86,000.00 has been allocated for Waterman Avenue and an amount of $273,000.00 has been allocated for the various downtown locations. Total funds available are $359,000.00. Negotiations are currently being held with the Southern California Edison Company relative to purchasing City owned street lights. In view of these negotiations, it doesn't seem prudent to expend funds to install additional City street lights. Therefore, we recommend that the award of this contract be rescinded. The contract document states that the Contractor cannot wi thdraw his bid for a period of 60 days. A letter has been received from the Contractor agreeing to an extension of 60 days, which will allow us to hold the bids until 3-20-91. RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 91-10 AWARDING A CONTRACT TO PAXIN ELECTRIC, INC. FOR INSTALLATION OF HIGHWAY SAFETY LIGHTING ON WATERMAN AVENUE, FROM SECOND STREET TO NINTH STREET, AND VARIOUS DOWNTOWN LOCATIONS. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Resolution No. 91-10 is hereby rescinded.
