Synopsis of Previous Council Action On May 6, 2008 the Legislative Review Committee
discussed proactive directed enforcement graffiti sweeps. Since the Police Ad Hoc Committee had
discussed graffiti enforcement issues,the LRC agreed the Police Ad Hoc Committee was the
appropriate committee to consider this matter.
Recommended Motion: That the matter of graffiti sweeps be referred to the Police Ad Hoc
Committee.

SUBJECT
Recommendation to refer action on proactive directed enforcement graffiti sweeps to the Police Ad Hoc
Committee.
BACKGROUND
At the May 6, 2008 Legislative Review Committee there was a discussion regarding graffiti sweeps. The
Committee discussed combating incidents of graffiti vandalism using proactive directed enforcement graffiti
sweeps. Since the Police Ad Hoc Committee has also discussed graffiti enforcement issues and has requested
that additional information be provided to them, it was agreed that the Police Ad Hoc Committee would be
the appropriate Committee to consider the development of proactive, directed enforcement targeting graffiti
vandalism crimes.

RECOMMENDATION
I Refer action on graffiti sweeps to the Police Ad Hoc Committee.
