Recommended motion:
That Change Order No. One, to the contract with Inland Overhead Door
Co. for repair and maintenance of Electrical and Manual rOll-up
doors, screens and bi-fold doors, in accordance with Plan No. 7663,
be approved; to authorize the Contractor to perform service and
repair to bring the overhead doors up to good working order, and in-
stall push down springs on 24 doors, at an increase of $9,453.75 in
the contract price, from $27,721.00 to $37,174.75.

STAFF REPORT
The specifications for the repair and maintenance of
overhead doors state that any door found to be broken or
malfunctioning shall be repaired by the Contractor, and paid for
as "Extra Work." Attached is a breakdown of service and repairs
found by the Contractor during the ini!tpectiQn..to be needed to
bring the doors up to good worKing order. The cost of'this work
is $6,117.75.

During the inspection of the doors, the Contractor found
that push down springs have not been installed on some doors.
These springs prevent the doors from coming out of their tracks,
and thereby requiring a service call to restore the door to
operation. We feel this work would be cost effective, due to the
reduction in service calls and incidents when the doors are in-
operable.
Funds to finance the various Departments' share of the
contract cost are included in the amounts allocated in the
\'1~,J~o 1988.'89 Budget for Building Maintenance, in accordance with the
estimates furnished by the Public Buildings Division.

The bill for extra work authorized by Contract Change
Order No. One will be paid in July, 1989. Therefore, the above
funds, to be allocated in the 1989-90 Budget, will be used to
finance the costs for this change order.
Doors at the Central City all are not included in Change
Order No. One, since an alternate is under consideration. Some
additional costs will be required to bring these doors up to good
working order.
