ADOPT A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREE- STAFF REPORT

~UP PURCHASING, DIETARY PROGRAM FOR THE
PURCHASE OF FOOD PRODUCTS FOR THE CITY
SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAM DURING THE PERIOD
JULY I, 1989 THROUGH JUNE 30, 1990.
The Health Resources, Group Purchasing, Dietary Program is a membership program
endorsed by the County of San Bernardino's Office on Aging for the purchase of
food stuffs for specially nego~iated prices with dietary vendors.
The Purchase Connection Program allows the City's Senior Nutrition Program to
realize substantial savings through volume discOunts offered by the vendors.
Recommend approval of the agreement.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AtlTHORIZINr. THE EXECUTION OF AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE CENTER OF HEALTH RfSOURCES INSTITUTE, GROUP PURCHASING,
DIETARY PROGRAM FOR THE PURCHASE OF FOOD PRODUCTS FOR THE CITY SENIOR NUTRITION
PROGRAM DURING THE PERIOD JULY 1, 1989 THROUGH JUNE 30, 1990.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. The Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services
Department, City of San Bernardino, is hereby authorized and directed to execute,
Ion behalf of said City an agreement with the Center of Health Resources
Institute in its group ~urchasing, dietary program for the ourchase of food
products for the City Senior Nutrition Program during the period July 1, 1989
through June 30, 1990, a copy of which is attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A"
and incorporated herein by reference as fully as though set forth at length.
SECTION 2. The authorization granted hereunder shall exoire and be void
and of nO further effect if the agreement is not executeQ by both parties and
returned to the office of the City Clerk within 60 days following effective

date of the resolution.

Fee Schedule
Health Resources Institute (HRI) will provide Senior Nutrition
aroiects the benefits of Aqreements HRI has neqotiated with
ietary vendors. The strenqth of this proqram and itssavinqs
have been obtained throuqha hiqh deqree of membership
commitment and utilization of tpe proqram. Both hospitals and
senior Nutrition Projects are required to purchase at least 60%
of dietary supplies needed by them and availa~le under HRI
Agreements through this program.

Senior Nutrition Projects may choose from two methods o~ billing
for this service. It should be noted that the cents per meal
rate aidS in budgetinq as well as a "cap" on the expense for the
Project.
