That the Real Property Section of the Public Works Department be
authorized and directed to proceed with changing the name of
Washington Avenue, (from Cynthia Street to Walnut Avenue) to
Washington Street.

STAFF REPORT
The change in the name of that portion of Washington
Avenue between Cynthia Street and Walnut Avenue, to Washington
Street, was City initiated. This change is to help provide
continuity in street names in the area. Also, there is
another section of Washington Street, between Chestnut Avenue
and Palm Avenue, that aligns with the section between Cynthia
Street and Walnut Avenue.
There are ten (10) residences affected by this
proposed street name change. The owners will all be notified
of the proposed change of name as a matter of course in these
proceedings, and they will have the opportunity to address the
Mayor and Common Council regarding same.
There are no businesses that will be affected by this
proposed street name change.
With your authorization, this office will make the
necessary notifications to adjoining property owners, City
Departments, and utility companies, conduct the investigations
and prepare the app~opriate ~esolution.
The Post Office will also be advised of the street
name change. The resolution changing the name of the street
can be made effective whenever requested by the affected
residents.
We recommend that authorization be granted to proceed.
