STAFF REPORT
Over the past few years the Cemetery Commission has had a very low
attendance record. Several members of the Council and the Mayor's.
Office have had difficulty appointing individuals to the commission.
The meeti ngs were changed from every month to every other month
on a trial basis. The attendance was still low or the meeting
was cancelled. The last commission meeting was on July 23. 1987.
It is therefore recommended that the Cemetery Commission be
abolished.

2 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING
SECTION 2.17.010 RELATING TO THE CEMETERY COMMISSION AND
3 REPEALING SECTIONS 2.44.020 AND 2.44.030 IN THEIR ENTIRETY.
4 THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
BERNARDINO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Section 2.17.010 of the San Bernardino
7 Municipal Code is amended to delete subsection I, "Cemetery
8 Commission."

SECTION 2. Section 2.44.020 of the San Bernardino
10 Municipal Code hereby repealed in its entirety.

SECTION 3. Section 2.44.030 of the San Bernardino
12 Municipal Code is hereby repealed in its entirety.

SUBJECT: Cemetery Commission -- Agenda Item #27

At the meeting of the Mayor and Common Council held November
21, 1988, an ordinance amending section 2.17.010 of the
Municipal Code relating to the Cemetery Commission and
repealing Sections 2.44.020 and 2.44.030 in their entirety
was discussed and continued to the meeting of January 17,
1989.
The Legislative Review Committee discussed this matter at
their meeting of December 8, 1988. They agreed that the
Commission should continue to exist but under different
rules. The City Attorney was directed to supply an ordinance
allowing the City-wide selection of commissioners for the
Committee's second meeting in January (19th).
In order to allow review of the requested ordinance by the
Legislative Review Committee, Item #27 on the January 17th
Council Agenda should be tabled at this time. The results of
the Legislative Review Committee' discussion will be brought
forward to the Council in ordinance form.
