Periodically, the two wells north and south of Hospitality Lane must be flushed. This involves discharging a large quantity of water from the Gage Canal property. The system, as designed and constructed, allows an excessive flow to be discharged onto Hospi tali ty Lane, and carried on the street surface to a catch basin, 700 feet away. This excessive surface flow could result in an unusual driving condition for vehicular traffic on Hospitality Lane, as well as advanced deterioration of the existing A.C. pavement. The potential liability in this situation would be shared by the City of Riverside, the Gage Canal Company, and the City of San Bernardino. ,',""- Contract Change Order No. One authorizes the Contractor to install about 793 feet of 12" P. V. C. pipe, from Gage Canal discharge point to the catch basin at Harriman Place. The Contractor has agreed to perform the work for an estimated amount of $24,186.50. We have reviewed this quoted price and agree that it is fair and reasonable. -- The City of Riverside and the Gage Canal Company have agreed to jointly fund one-third of the cost of installing this pipe. Additionally, the Tri-City Corporation has agreed to fund one-third of the cost, in return for the site-enhancement aspect of the project. Therefore, the City's net cost involvement would be one-third of about $24,186.50, or $8,062.17. A check has been received from the Gage Canal Company, in the amount of $4,031.09, as payment for their share. Attached is a copy of the letter from Tri-City committing to remit their share by 1-30-89. The check from the City of Riverside will have to go through normal municipal financial processing, but should be provided by the end of January, 1989. The budget for this project includes $23,036.25 for con- tingencies, which can be used to fund this change order. We recommend that Change Order No. One be approved. 12-20-88 - 75-0264 - '-~-....
