CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT SUBJECT Motion to reject all bids submitted in response to Bid No. F-01-48 for various vehicles; and to direct the Purchasing Manager to re-advertise for bids for these vehicles. BACKGROUND Notices inviting bids for sixty (60) various vehicles as part of the annual vehicle replacement program to be utilized by various City departments, F-01-48, were mailed to fifty-nine (59) local and area vendors, the San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce, and advertised in The San Bernardino Sun and on the City's Web Page. Of the 60 vehicles specified in the RFQ, 36 were Ford Crown Victorias. However, no bids were received from any Ford Dealers. Upon investigation, the purchasing manager determined that the local Ford Dealer, Fairview Ford, had been inadvertently left off of the list of vendors to whom notices inviting bids were sent. Municipal Code section 3.04.070E states that << At its discretion, the Mayor and Common Council shall have the power to reject any and all bids presented and re-advertise for bids". Staff is therefore requesting authorization to reject all bids submitted under Bid No. F-01-48, and to authorize the Purchasing Manager to re-advertise for bids for these vehicles. RECOMMENDATION Approve the motion.
