A. Wainscott & Associates (representing Rancon Corporation) to change the name of Carnegie Drive to Tri-City Corporate Centre Drive. On 01-04-89, this office received a request, from L. A. Wainscott & Associates for a revision of the proposed street name change from Tri-City Corporate Centre Drive, to Tri-City Corporate Drive. On 03-13-89, the Real Property Section of the Public Works Department was authorized and directed to proceed with an investigation of the proposed name change. On 04-03-89, City Departments were notified of the proposed name change (see attached list) and given an opportunity to comment on the proposal. No concerns were expressed by the various departments. The Real Property Section received one letter of protest (04-20-89) from a tenant in one of the affected office buildings (see attached letter). The protester plans to attend the 05-15-89 Council Meeting to personally present his reasons for protesting the proposed street name change. As most of the tenants have just recently moved into the various office complexes, an effective date of January I, 1990 is recommended to help alleviate some of the tenant resistance, and to help those tenants use up some or most of the stationery they have purchased using the old street name (Carnegie Drive). Also, one letter in support of the proposed name change was received 4-20-89 (see attached letter). Respondent feels that "the name change is more in keepi ng wi th the i denti ty of thi s major business center". Staff has no objections to this name change, as neither Carnegie Drive or Tri-City Corporate Drive appear anywhere else in the City's street system. The proposed name change. If adopted. would have adverse ftnancIal and business COI1lIequences on Medlsco Pharmacles Inc. located at 720 E. Carnefge Drtve Ste. 150. as well as being extremely inconvenient. \ We have Invested $9.000.00 In printing expenses on busine88 correspondence and forms. prescription labels, and address stamps. Thls substantial expense .would have to be duplicated If the proposed name change were adopted. We would have to notify over 90 vendors with which Medlsco Pharmacy has accounts and contracts. the InSurance carrters. WorlaDans Compensation, State and Federal deposit accounts. and would have to re-regIster the deJ1very vehicles with D.M.V. The Impact on the professional area of the Pharmacy include notIflcatlon of the change to the Federal Drug Enforcement Adm1nl8tratlon. the Federal Medicare program. The State Board of Pharmacy. the State MedicaJde program. as well as all of the local business licenses and permits. Medlsco Pharmacies received notification of the proposed street name change on Apr1l14. 1989 even though the City EngIneer received the request on December 20. 1988. Medlsco PharmaCies signed the lease with 'n1-CIty Corporation on January 16. 1989 but we were not advised of the proposed name change at that time. I urge you to de~ the request for the proposed street name change In view of the financial and business Impact. An alternative would be to name a future street In the projeCi as 'Trt-Clty Corporate DrIve'. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO CHANGING THE NAME OF CARNEGIE DRIVE BETWEEN HOSPITALITY LANE AND HOSPITALITY LANE, TO TRI-CITY CORPORATE DRIVE, WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, WITH AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF JANUARY I, 1990. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: SECTION ONE: That the name of Carnegie Drive be, and the same is hereby changed to read Tri-City Corporate Drive, with an effective date of January I, 1990. SECTION TWO: The City Clerk of the City of San Bernardino shall cause a certified copy of this Resolution to be recorded in the office of the County Recorder of the County of San Bernardino.
