Synopsis of Previous Council action:
10/24/88 The Mayor and Common Council approved the Convention and Visitors
Bureau (CVB) plan of action and the recommended members for the Board
of Directors.
12/19/88 Mayor and Common Council approved the Articles of Incorporation,
Bylaws and CVB Director Job Description as amended.
2/6/89 Mayor and Common Council approved a resolution and agreement between
the City of San Bernardino and the San Bernardino Convention and
Visitors Bureau.
4/3/89 Mayor and Common Council approved the Quarterly Report submitted by
the San Bernardino Convention and Visitors Bureau, thereby, authorizing
payment to the San Bernardino Convention Visitors Bureau in the
amount of $9,730, as provided in the executed agreement with the City.
Recommended motion:
Adopt Resolution.

REQUEST F~R COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
At the Mayor and Common Council meeting of April 3, 1989, the
Quarterly Report was received and filed authorizing payment
to the San Bernardino Convention and Visitors Bureau (SBCVB)
in the amount of $9,730, as provided in the executed
agreement with the city. Attached is a proposed resolution
amending that agreement where the city will provide the
Bureau with an additional $25,000 for fiscal year 1988-89.
These funds are being requested by the Bureau for advertising
materials in order to meet additional resources for the
creative design, layout and printing of promotional materials
that will be competitive on a regional basis.
The resolution and amended agreement are recommended for
approval by the Mayor and Common Council.

1 RESOLUTION NO.
2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THE
EXECUTION OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH THE SAN
3 BERNARDINO CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU WHERE THE CITY SHALL
PROVIDE THE BUREAU AN ADDITIONAL SUM OF $25,000 FOR FISCAL YEAR
4 1988-89 FUNDING.
5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1.
The Mayor of the City of San Bernardino is

hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of said City
an amendment to the agreement with the San Bernardino Convention

and Visitors Bureau whereby the City agrees to provide an
additional sum of $25,000 payable in the fiscal year of 1988-89.
A copy of said amendment is attached hereto and incorporated
herein as Exhibit "A".
SECTION 2.
The amendment shall not take effect until
fully signed and executed by both parties. The City shall not be
obligated hereunder unless and until the amendment is fully
executed and no oral agreement relating thereto shall be implied
or authorized.
SECTION 3.
This resolution is rescinded if the parties
to the agreement(s) fail to execute it/them within sixty (60)
days of the passage of this resolution.

AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT
THIS AMENDMENT to the Agreement of March 3, 1989 is
effective upon execution between the CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, a
Charter City ("CITY.), and the SAN BERNARDINO CONVENTION AND
VISITORS BUREAU, a public benefit non-profit corporation
( "BUREAU" ) .
WIT N E SSE T H:
Whereas, the San Bernardino Convention and Visitors Bureau
Board feels that it is necessary to upgrade their image and the
quality of their promotional marketing materials, and
Whereas, the SAN BERNARDINO CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU
will need additional resources for the creative design, layout
and printing of promotional materials that will be competitive on
a regional basis, and
Whereas, the SAN BERNARDINO CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU
has successfully recruited the Renaissance Pleasure Faire
creating an opportunity for additional visitation on a regional
basis, and
Whereas, additional advertising will be necessary in
conjunction with the Renissance Pleasure Faire between May 13,
1989 through June 25, 1989,
NOW, THEREFORE THE PARTIES HERETO AGREE AS FOLLOWS:

Section 9 is hereby added to the Agreement to read as
"9. In addition to the funds provided in Section 1
of this Agreement, the CITY shall provide the BUREAU with
an additional sum of TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND ($25,000.00)
DOLLARS payable on the effective date of this Amendment for
the purpose of upgrading the BUREAU'S promotional
materials with relation to the Renaissance Pleasure Faire."
