CITY OF SAN BERroRDINO ~ REQUEST OR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT :: Per the request of Frank Keller, Cable Television Manager, the classification of CATV ProgrammingITraffic Assistant is being established in order to more effectively implement the scheduling and programming activities of the Telecommunications Division and provide expanded services to the public. A Cable TV survey revealed that a majority of respondents addressed the need to have Channel 3 listed in the newspaper and/or TV Guide and the cable guides. Presently, KCSB's daily program schedule is produced weekly. All TV Guide and cable guide listings require a one-month advance programming schedule. The new position would allow the Channel 3 program ~hedule to b,e produced within the listing services' publication time frame. , ' , The attached job description (Attachment A) fully describes the duties of this position. The salary is being recommended at $10.00 - 12.16/hour, after surveying several jurisdictions with similar positions. At the present time, there are nine (9) budgeted part-time positions for CATV Production! Programming Assistant (Attachment B). Five (5) of these positions are vacant. The salary set for the CATV ProductionlProgramming Assistant is $6.50 - $7.89/hour. It is proposed that one of the vacant part-time CATV Production/Programming Assistant positions be deleted in exchange for the new CATV ProgrammingITraffic Assistant position.
