Authorization to Establish a "No Parking Any Time" zone on Genevieve Street between 360
feet north of Wabash Street and the end of Genevieve Street north of Wabash Street.
Backl!l"ound:
The City's Police Department has received numerous calls relative to illegal activities in front
of the apartment complex located at the end of the Genevieve Street north of Wabash Street.
Some of these calls have included reports of shootings within this area.
In an effort to help resolve this undesirable situation, the Police Department is requesting the
implementation of a "No Parking" zone on Genevieve Street in front of the apartment
complex. The Public Works Division concurs that a "No Parking" zone will help alleviate the
situation, however, there was a concern the adjacent properties should be notified and given
the opportunity to comment on the desirability of the proposed action. Consequently, Traffic
Engineering sent letters advising property owners of the City's proposal to install a "No
Parking" zone in front of the apartment complex.
The letter was sent to the property owners/tenants of Genevieve Street between Wabash Street
and the terminus of Genevieve Street north of Wabash Street. There are eleven (11) properties
within this area including the apartment complex. Fourteen (14) letters were sent. Individual
letters were not sent to the tenants of the apartment complex, but a letter was mailed addressed
to the "Resident/Manager" of the apartment complex. However, the letter was returned as
"undeliverable". There is nothing to indicate that the owner of the apartment complex did not
receive a letter. Two responses to our inquiries were received. Both expressed support for the
proposed "No Parking" zone.
Staff concurs that the requested "No Parking" zone should be installed in an attempt to
alleviate the Police Department's problems in front of the apartment complex. It is therefore
recommended that the "No Parking" zone be approved.
Financial Imuact:
The estimated cost of $ 1,500.00 for installing the new speed limit signs will come from Account No.
001-187-5111 (Signing and Striping Materials)
Recommendation:
Adopt Resolution.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING RESOLUTION
NO. 3985 ENTITLED, IN PART, "A RESOLUTION...PROHIBITING PARKING UPON
CERTAIN DESIGNATED. STREETS, ALLEYS, OR PORTIONS THEREOF..." TO
ESTABLISH A NO PARKING ANY TIME ZONE ON BOTH SIDES OF GENEVIEVE
STREET BETWEEN THREE-HUNDRED SIXTY FEET NORTH OF WABASH
STREET AND THE END OF GENEVIEVE STREET NORTH OF WABASH STREET.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Resolution No. 3985, which prohibits parking upon certain
designated streets or portions thereof, Section One, Subsection (13.2) GENEVIEVE STREET, is
