Agenda Item No. CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Staff Report Subiect: Resolution of the City of San Bernardino authorizing the Mayor of the City of San Bernardino or her designee to execute Amendment No. 4 to the Agreement with San Bernardino City Unified School District, relating to delivery of lunches and snacks to Delmann Heights Headstart Center. Back2round The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department has provided a Headstart Program at Delmann Heights Community Center since 1978 with an agreement with San Bernardino City Unified School District for providing lunches and snacks. This program currently accommodates 30 morning and 30 afternoon preschoolers, ages 3-5, and runs September through June. This amendment to the agreement which was first approved by Resolution 96-196, dated July 1, 1996 (copy attached) is only to show the changes in the price of lunches and snacks and to extend the period of the agreement for the new year, July 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003. The price for student Type A lunches increased by seven cents, from $1.95 to $2.02, Schedule B snacks increased by four cents, from $.45 to $.49 and adult lunches increased seven cents, from $2.00 to $2.07. Lunches include milk, entree, fruit, or dessert. Student Type A lunches are smaller portions than adult lunches. The Schedule B snack consists of fruit or juice and crackers. The increases are due to an increase in the service provided by the school district which includes furnishing milk, straws, utensils and napkins. Financial Impact There will be no impact to the General Fund Budget. The Food Service Agreement portion of the Headstart Grant is for $33,714 and this amount will cover all food service costs for FY 2002-03.
