STAFF REPORT
The Engineering Division was requested to post 2-Hour Parking signs, on
the South side of 21st Street between Crestview Avenue and San Gabriel
Street in the vicinity of St. Bernardine's Hospital.
All but one of the residents along the affected portion of 21st Street
have signed a petition requesting the parking limitation. These
residents claim that hospital personnel park their vehicles all day,
which creates parking and visibility problems.
The request was reviewed by Traffic Safety Advisory Committee at their
March 8, 1989, meeting. The Committee concurred with the request and
recommended that the 2-Hour Parking limitation be established.
The proposed parking limitation, as well as the existing 2-Hour Parking
Restriction to the west, will not affect short term parking for the
hospital visitor. Hospital employees are currently being shuttled to
Pacific High School in an effort to reduce the parking demand.
Restricting parking from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. will allow residents to
park in the street at night.
