As a result, the street sweepers are unable to clean these areas effectively. This has generated numerous complaints'from.resdidents, due to accumulated dirt and debris along the curb. In order to address this problem, it has been proposed that parking be prohibited during the times these streets are swept. Parking will be prohibited around St. Bernardine Hospital from 4:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. every Monday, and around Community Hospital every Friday from 4:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. These restrictions will allow the weekly sweepings to be effective. Questionnaires were sent to residents in these areas. The results showed that the residents were overwhelming in favor of restricting parking to facilitate street sweeping. However, the resident's vehicles will be parked on the streets during the hours of prohibition, and some complaints can be expected when they receive parking citations. The proposed parking prohibition was approved by the Traffic Safety Committee at their meeting of 2-9-89. These parking prohibi tionswill be enforced by the Police Department, as personnel are available. It has been agreed that the estimated for installing the necessary "No Parking" signs from the Department of Public Services/Street since this program is to facilitate the function. cost of $2,000, will be financed Division Budget, street sweeping We recommend that the parking prohibitions be approved. 3-02-89 75-0264 '" ..... t..., .
