Curtis & Sons in the amount of $50,000, and Mallory Company in the amount of $10,000 for replacement of protective clothing and equipment for structural firefighting. BACKGROUND A Request For Quote #F 07-43 was issued to solicit formal bids for protective clothing for structural firefighting on May 15, 2007. Notices inviting bids from qualified vendors for protective clothing for structural firefighting were distributed to the San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce, the City's Web Site, and advertised in The Sun Newspaper. Bid packages were requested by twenty-three (23) vendors and three (3) bid responses were received. All vendors were requested to bid on each of the items listed in the bid specification #F 07-43 (attachment A). Therefore, the Fire Department is requesting that annual purchase orders be issued to Fisher Scientific Company, L.N. Curtis & Sons, and Mallory Company based on the lowest and best unit cost for safety equipment. The bid summary sheet lists all the categories and quotes (attachment A). Fisher Scientific Company has the lowest unit cost for structural gloves and turnout boots (leather) that meet our technical specifications. Therefore, it is recommended that an annual purchase order be awarded to Fisher Scientific in the amount of$15,000 underRFQ #F 07-43. Mallory Company is a local vendor and we are requesting that an annual purchase order be issued in the amount of $10,000 for turn out boots (rubber) based on the lowest unit cost. L.N. Curtis & Sons has the lowest unit cost for goggles, hoods, wildland gloves, wildland brush pants, wildland brush jackets, turnout coats and turnout pants that meet our technical specifications. Therefore, it is recommended that an annual purchase order be awarded to L.N. Curtis & Sons in the amount of $50,000 under RFQ #F 07-43. The cost and technical specifications of all bids were reviewed and the low bidders were determined in each category. All vendors recommended are qualified and meet or exceed all items called for in the specifications. The annual purchase orders are for one year with the option, at the City's discretion, of renewing the contract annually for up to two years. FINANCIAL IMPACT The total dollar amount of $75,000 is included in the Fire Department FY 2007-2008 budget for protective clothing and equipment for structural fire fighting. Funding is available in account number 001-202-5111 (Materials and Supplies). .
