Synopsis of Previous Council Action:
March 4, 2002 Resolution No. 2002-65 was approved - ".. . directing the City Clerk to
continue the commencement of each Mayor and Common Council
meeting for the months of May, June, and July, 2002 to 1:30 p.m. on the
day of said meeting, with the Community Development Commission
meeting to follow thereafter.
Recommended Motion:
That said resolution be adopted.

STAFF REPORT
Sublect:
Resolution directing the City Clerk to continue the commencement of each Mayor and Common
Council meeting for the months of August through December, 2002 from 8:00 a.m. to I :30 p.m.,
with the Community Development Commission meeting to follow thereafter.
Backl!round:
At the March 4, 2002 meeting of the Mayor and Common Council, Resolution No. 2002-65 was
adopted directing the City Clerk to continue the commencement of each Mayor and Common
Council meeting for the months of May, June and July, 2002, to 1:30 p.m. on the day of said
meeting, with the Community Development Commission meeting to follow thereafter.
These new meetings were to be for a trial period only to allow the public greater opportunity to
attend and participate in meetings of the Mayor and Common Council.
Mayor Judith Valles has requested that the members of the City Council consider extending this
trial period for the remainder of this year.
Financial Imuact:
None anticipated.
Recommendation:
That said resolution be adopted.

RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN BERNARDINO DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO CONTINUE THE
COMMENCEMENT OF EACH MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL MEETING FOR
THE MONTHS OF AUGUST THROUGH DECEMBER, 2002, FROM 8:00 A.M. TO
1:30 P.M., WITH THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION MEETING
TO FOLLOW THEREAFTER.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Clerk or her designee shall appear in the Council Chambers at
8:00 a.m. on the first and third Mondays in the months of August, October, November and
December, 2002, and the first Tuesday and third Monday in September, 2002, and shall
continue each Mayor and Common Council meeting to I :30 p.m. that same day, except that in
September, 2002, the meeting on the first Tuesday shall be continued to I :30 p.m. on the
second Monday and the meeting on the third Monday shall be continued to I :30 p.m. on the
fourth Monday, with the following schedule:
1. Closed session for both the City of San Bernardino and the Community
Development Commission shall commence at I :30 p.m.
2. Open session for the City of San Bernardino shall commence at 3:00
p.m.
3. Open session for the Community Development Commission shall
commence after the City agenda items have been considered, to the
extent possible.
4. There shall be a recess from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at which time the
open session shall resume and continue until all items on the agenda for
both the City and Commission have been considered.

Public comments shall commence after City and Commission items have
all been considered, to the extent possible, but in no event will start later
than 9 p.m.
