Backl!round: In March 2002, the Mayor and Common Council adopted a Resolution directing the City Clerk to continue the commencement of each Mayor and Common Council meeting from 8 :00 a.m. to I :30 p.m., with the Community Development Commission meeting to follow thereafter. The new meeting schedule was to be for a trial period to allow the public greater opportunity to attend and participate in meetings of the Mayor and Common Council. The initial trial period began in March and was to have ended in July; however, in July the Mayor and Council adopted a Resolution extending the new meeting times through December 2002. Since we are in the process of planning agenda schedules for the coming year, staff is requesting direction from the Mayor and Council on whether or not they would like to continue the current meeting schedule indefinitely. If such is their preference, then we recommend that the City Attorney's Office be directed to prepare an Ordinance amending Section 2.58.010 of the San Bernardino Municipal Code to reflect the new meeting times effective January 2003. Financial Impact: None anticipated.
