STAFF REPORT
The Retired Senior Volunteer Rogram (RSVP) provides opportunities for retired
persons 60 years of age to volunteer their knowledge, expertise, and services
at a variety of public and private agencies throughout the Inland Empire.
Through RSVP some 300 seniors have volunteered over 65,000 hours annually.
The estimated total cost of the program is $69,600 with $33,798 coming from
Federal ACTION funds and $35,802 coming from local match. The local match will
include $7,000 cash and in-kind city contributions such as office space, utili-
ties, custodial, accounting, etc., and contributions from the community for meals,
services, and donations.
Though it appears that continuation of this program indefinitely was approved
on 9/8/75, adoption of this resolution is recommended to provide appropriate
public information on an annual basis.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
o SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
6 SECTION 1. The Director of Parks, Recreation and Community
7 Services of the City of San Bernardino is hereby authorized and
8 directed to apply for and accept a federal grant from "ACTION" in
9 the amount of $33,798 for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for
10 the period October 1, 1986 through September 30, 1987.
