REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT The construction of Fill-In Street Improvements per Plan No. Chapter 27 assessments, 1984-1, was completed May 20, 1986. of 20 working days was allowed for completion of all work. The contract was awarded for the low bid of $32,412.57. The final contract price is $26,923.58. The contract price was reduced by $1,796.49 for reduced quantities used in the work. An additional reduction of $3400.00 was made in liquidated damages. Although 44 days in excess of the allotted contract time was used, negoti ations with the Sontractor reduced this to 34 days. Staff feels this is fair and recovers the City's costs for inspection and project administrative costs for the excess working days. The Contractor is aware of the damages and has accepted the negotiated amount. An. additional reduction of $292.50 was made for repeat soils testing that was the responsibility of the Contractor. 6809, A total We, therefore, recommend the work be approved and accepted with final payment authorized at the expiration of the lien period. 75-0264
