Synopsis of Previous Council action:
Previous Planning Commission action:
At the meeting of the Planning Commission on March 18, 1986,
the following action was taken:
The proposed amendment to the San Bernardino Municipal Code,
Section 19.36.020, to permit storage of fireworks in the M-l
Light Industrial zone, was unanimously recommended for approval,
with wording per the attached memorandum to the Planning
Commission dated March 18, 1986.
The Negative Declaration for environmental review was also
recommended for approval.
Recommended motion:
To approve the responses to comments and to adopt the Negative
Declaration for environmental review which has been reviewed and
considered.
To approve, modify or reject the findings and the recommendation
of the Planning Commission and to direct the City Attorney to
prepare the necessary amendments to the Zoning Ordinance.

Magic Dragon Fireworks Company respectfully requests th
ordinance of the City of San Bernardino, which presently prohib-
its the storage of fireworks in the City, be amended to allow
such storage.
Magic Dragon Fireworks is a fireworks company which markets
legal, "Safe and Sane" fireworks through various non-profit
and charitable organizations during the Fourth of July sales
period. In order to support these organizations with fireworks
product, during this short sales period, it is necessary to
provide a storage facility at a central location.
A building has been located within the City that would meet the
requirements. However, since such storage would not now be legal
and it is the desire of Magic Dragon to comply fully with all of
the laws and ordinances of the City, our request for a zone
ordinance change becomes necessary.
The proposed ordinance change has been discussed with a represen-
tative of the City Fire Department and the Fire Department would
not oppose such a change.
