BID SPEC; F-86-9
The proposed purchase is for One New Stump Cutting Machine to be utilized in daily
operations by the Public Services/Street Department. At the request of the depart-
ment and in co-ordination with the Equipment Superintendent, appropriate specificat-
ions were prepared, published and furnished to area suppliers. The following is a
summary of the bids received.

Of the 10 bidders solicited, six responded with prices or reasons for NO BID. They
are as follows.
1. W.K. Equipment - "Do not sell product."
2. Haaker Equipment - " Do not handle this type of equipment."
3. Asplundh Equipment "We furnish vegitation management services and related equip-
ment such as trim lifts, chipper trucks. and chippers - not stump removal equip-
ment. "
4. Nixon-Egli - "We do not handle a line of equipment that will meet these specifi-
cations."
5. AA Equipments Rentals Co.. Inc. - "No available source."
The bid of Vermeer-California was pursued to ascertain if the bid price offered was
fair and reasonable.
The City of Placentia purchase #12923 - 9/30/85 at $17,511.20; the City of Los Angeles
purchase #E-11267 - 8/9/85 at $18,003.04; and the County of Santa Barbara purchase
#15248 - 1/86 at $17,320.40 all reflected comparable prices for the same model and
same basic unit.
In view of the comparable bids it is felt the bid of Vermeer-California is fair and
reasonable.
Specification as bid have been reviewed by the Director of Public Services and the
Equipment Superintendent who concur that the bid of Vermeer-California meets spec-
ifications and requirements. The amount of $18.550.00 was included in the 1985/86
Budget for this requirement.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AWARDING A BID TO VERMEER-
CALIFORNIA FOR THE FURNISHING AND DELIVERY OF ONE NEW STUMP CUTTING t4ACHINE
TO BE UTILIZED BY THE PUBLIC SERVICES/STREET TREE DEPARTMENT IN ACCORDANCE
WITH SPECIFICATION NO. F-86-9.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BER-
NARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Vermeer-California is the sole bidder for the furnishing and
de 1 i very of one new stump cutti ng machi ne in accordance with Spec ifi ca t i !i'1
No. F-86-9. at a total cost of $17.696.70; that such bid is satisfactory and
in accordance wi th Specifi cat i on No. F-86-9; pursuant to thi s determi na t ion.
the Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized and directed to issue a purchase
order for said one new stump cutting machine to said lowest and best bidder;
and such award shall only be effective upon the issuance of a purchase order
by the Purchasing Agent.
