COUNCIL ACTION e e e 75-0264 STAFF REPORT The Traffic Engineering Section was requested to evaluate Little Mountain Drive, in front of Shandin Hills Middle School, relative to the safety of school children. The survey revealed that parents are dropping off their children on the west side of Little Mountain Drive, which results in their having to cross the street in order to get to the school. This time in the morning, Little Mountain Drive experiences one of its peak periods of traffic, which along with the high speeds of vehicles traveling on Little Mountain, creates an undesirable situation. This issue was discussed by the Traffic Safety Committee on November 14, 1990. In order to resolve this situation, the Committee recommended that vehicles be prohibited from parking on the west side of Little Mountain Drive, directly in front of the school. Since the school provides sufficient off-street parking for their employees and visitors, the restriction will not ad- versely affect the parking demand .in the area. We recommend that the restriction be approved. 1-24-91 e e NORTH PI> 6e.Ate ---- . .
