CI,4t OF SAN BERNARDI~ - REQUE" FOR COUNCIL AC~N . . . 75.0264 STAFF REPORT Previously, the Mayor and Common Council approved funding for architectural and engineering services, construction and supplemental funding for additive alternates numbered 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10 for construction of the Nicholson Park Community Center. One of the additive alternates not selected was the construction of new basketball courts. The old courts were destroyed during the site preparation for construction. Councilman Ralph Hernandez has requested that the Redevelopment Committee and Mayor and Common Council consider approving funding for the construction of the basketball courts out of the CDBG FY 1985/1986 Contingency Account. The original construction cost bid on the basketball courts was $22,044 (see attached bid summary). The Public Works Director advises that a change order for time and materials not to exceed $22,044 could be executed with the contractor. Mr. Hardgrave believes 2-3 thousand dollars could be saved on a time and materials basis. On May 8, 1986, the Redevelopment Committee considered recommended approval to the Mayor and Common Council. Committee recommendation. this item and Staff concurs with the If the Mayor and Common Council approves the supplemental funding request at a level not to exceed $22,044 the balance remaining in the FY 1985/1986 Contingency Account will be $260,594. 967L 5/86 . .
